Ryan McCabe, Treasurer
I grew up in nearby Stoneham the youngest of 4, where Saturdays in the fall meant all day at the football fields with my brothers and I playing, my sister cheering and my dad coaching as well as leading the board. My brothers and I all went on to play football at Brooks School and continued on at the college level, personally at Tufts University.
My wife and I, along with our 3 children, have been in Andover for 10+ years, actively involved in several youth sports. Having coached baseball, basketball, soccer and flag football, the 2022 season was my first with the AJFL, coaching my oldest son Cameron's JV (largely 7th grade) team. Initially apprehensive about tackle football for my kids, I asked a lot of questions and committed to coaching to ensure safety and proper techniques were prioritized. Thankfully, Jimmy and the other coaches exceeded my expectations. Seeing the boys develop over the course of a few months, learning proper techniques, building their football IQ, and supporting their teammates was something special.
I'm happy to discuss the coaching certification program all coaches are required to complete, the ways safety is prioritized each and every week at practices and games as well as any other items a perspective player, parent or caregiver may have.
I look forward to helping the Board and teams continue to grow, raising the bar each year to ensure the kids and their families look forward to coming back year after year.

Jimmy Johnson, Head Coach Football / Director of League Coordination
My name is Jimmy Johnson and I am the current Andover Middle School Football Coach. My football career started in the AJFL back in 2001 and I was a part of one of the first AJFL teams to switch to the travel league we are currently playing in. After middle school I went to Andover High School (10') where I became a three sport Varsity Athlete (Football, Basketball, Lacrosse). In my senior year at Andover High School, I led our football team in catches, yards, and interceptions which earned me 2nd Team All MVC football selection.
After Andover I was fortunate enough to get accepted into Dartmouth College (14'). I walked on to the Dartmouth Football team my Freshmen year. By my Junior and Senior Year I earned significant minutes on special teams and as a backup Free Safety. During my Junior and Senior Year we finished 2nd place in IVY League 12' and 13' and I was able to earn Defensive scout team player of the year both years.
In 2018 I moved back to Andover with my wife. I wanted to volunteer and give back to the town that gave so much to me. I was offered to be the Andover Middle School Football Head Coach in 2018 and am now in charge of coaching logistics for the whole program. Since 2018, our football team has a 28-15 record. More important than the record is that we are teaching your sons or daughters how to play safe organized tackle football while also having fun. If you have any questions about the program please feel free to reach out to me anytime via email.
